Amelia Adams has done it again! I’ve often wondered how many mail-order brides actually went through with the wedding. This story gives us a clue as to the fear so many women must have felt. Did they have a choice in their decision? Life in the 1800’s deemed being a wife and mother was the only job a woman qualified for. Yes, store clerk was an option; but, mostly men or his wife had those. Schoolteacher? Possible but the rules were different for men and women. Also, teacher only until she could marry. So, did THIS bride-to-be arrive as scheduled? Did she marry a good man or stay single? If single, was she able to find a “decent” job? Once again the Brody’s play an amazing role in the story line. We get to see, once again, so many of our favorite characters from earlier books. At the same time, we see and feel the fear a young woman, alone in the world, heading off to start a “new” life, might feel. And what about the man? What if he is shy? How does he meet young women in order to court them? Most adults just “expect” the man to have no fears or loneliness. How does fate or chance bring a worried young woman and a lonely young man together? Do they marry? I will admit at the end I was completely laughing and able to picture all the witty humor shown in the story. I loved this story and hated to put it down which is no surprise with any Amelia Adams book. I highly recommend this as a must read for all ages!!Product details

A Begrudging Bride Kansas Crossroads Book 11 edition by Amelia C Adams Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Take a mail order bride and slow it down; then you get a romance born of communication and patience. Nice.
I really liked this book and it's telling of the story of cold feet and mail-order brides. It could be taken out to a longer book, but I also appreciate the shorter length for times when I'm waiting for my kids at school, lessons, etc.
Mail Order, what a great way of getting what you need! Getting men and women together by mail made great stories with lots of twists and turns as it went.
This was an interesting read. The issues were written well and explained. Both hero and heroine were nice folks; they just needed time to get acquainted. I enjoyed reading about the restaurant duties, the people who ran it and all the characters they came across. Have read Bk One and both are great. Recommended.
Camille and David had an unusual courtship, but sweet. I love The Brody Hotel family. There is so much love there. They have built a family within the hotel and even the newest member feels safe and loved. I love these stories!
This is an ok story. I didn't like the main character and the only reason this gets two stars instead of one is the fact that she woke up to what a brat she was being at the end. This is written ok, nothing deep or moving just a bland story with a irritating heroine. This is not too long and is squeaky clean and has a Christian theme.
My this book was a bit different and I loved it. I always wondered what would happen if the bride didn't show up, I thought David was going to be furious.
I was pleasantly surprised that David went to be sure she was alright. That showed that he was a good man. I don't agree with him about lying to Camille who he was but I understood his reasons.
I'm so pleased that she followed her heart, frankly it surprised me what she did in the end! I won't give it away, I suggest that you get the book and read the story, I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as I have.
